Muskoka Hills barred my mother from wishing her father and mother (my grandparents) goodbye as he was being moved out of the retirement home to another location. Our family caused no problems while visiting over the course of the few weeks they were there. We were welcome one day and my mother and uncle were told (harshly as if they were troublemakers) to leave the next. Staff attitudes and service varied greatly - so to all staff who made us feel welcome - thank you so much. I cannot give the retirement home a good rating however. My grandparents are no longer at Muskoka Hills and unfortunately are further away - long story. I do think that this place has potential but they are giving two different messages with how they treat families of residents. I tried to connect with them by email after this had died down, but I admit I may have done this too late. I have not heard back from them yet. I hope their service improves.
Has yelled at residence. Chef is great but replacement chef is very rude. 3 employee health and safty violations during month of working there. Treats staff VERY poorly. We are seeking legal action. I could not reccromend this place!!
The building is great. Bright and cheery. The nurses are amazing. Friendly and caring. The food is good. Home cooked and fresh. It's only because of these three aspects I am giving it one star. The administration - HORRIBLE. Don't even expect to actually talk to the Executive Director, Debbie Haigh especially when they are in the wrong. Like when important paperwork is not filed thus causing grief and turmoil for the family. The owners are totally hands off and don't really seem to care what happens at the retirement home as long as they are making money. If you are considering a place for loved ones I would NOT select Muskoka Hills if you are looking for a caring community from the top down. The top doesn't care - they are just in it to make a dollar. When they make a huge error and won't even provide you with a phone call or email to say "we are in the wrong and we are sorry" it really isn't good business.
